Japan Fight

In June 1941, Germany invaded Russia and in the early months of the war inflicted such crushing defeats on the Red Army, many believed the Soviet Union was on the verge of collapse. Germany urged Japan to invade the Soviet Far East, avenge the defeat at Nomonhan, and seize as much Soviet territory as it could swallow. But in July 1941, the United States and Britain had imposed an oil embargo on Japan that threatened to starve the Japanese war machine. To avert this, the Imperial Navy was determined to seize the oil-rich Dutch East Indies. The Netherlands had been conquered a year earlier. Britain was fighting for its life. Only the U.S. Pacific Fleet stood in the way. Many in the Japanese Army, however, were keen to attack the U.S.S.R., as Germany was urging. They wanted to avenge the defeat at Nomonhan while the Red Army was being smashed by the blitzkrieg. Japanese Army and Navy leaders debated this issue at a series of Imperial War Conferences.

For decades, Japan considered the Taiwan issue too politically sensitive to speak out about it publicly. Japan's military is focused on defense of its own territory and has no expeditionary forces to fight overseas.

Japan's shift in thinking comes as China has stepped up pressure on Taiwan, including sending fighter jets and warships around the island. But the bolder talk could also be driven by further moves by China.

This was the ideology that Emperor Hirohito called upon: Not a new edict to fight to the death for Japan and the Emperor, but an invocation to the culture of the emperor, which had been instilled in the Japanese people.

By August, 1945, Japan had lost World War II. Japan and the United States both knew it. How long would it be, however, before Japan surrendered? Japan was split between surrender or fighting to the end. They chose to fight.

The United States could launch a traditional ground invasion of the Japanese home islands. However, experience showed that the Japanese did not easily surrender. They had been willing to make great sacrifices to defend the smallest islands. They were likely to fight even more fiercely if the United States invaded their homeland. During the battle at Iwo Jima in 1945, 6,200 US soldiers died. Later that year, on Okinawa, 13,000 soldiers and sailors were killed. Casualties on Okinawa were 35 percent; one out of three US participants was wounded or killed. Truman was afraid that an invasion of Japan would look like "Okinawa from one end of Japan to the other." Casualty predictions varied, but all were high. The price of invasion would be millions of American dead and wounded.

Women in Japan are fighting back against the expectation that they wear high heels to work. Taking a page from the #MeToo movement, tens of thousands are participating in a social media campaign called #KuToo, which means shoe suffering.

Mark it down as one final victory for Scott Coker and Bellator MMA in 2022. The promotion sent out five of its best fighters -- including a current champion -- to compete against the best that Rizin had to offer on Saturday and came away passing the test with flying colors.

"I'm just trying to embrace it all. Being here in Japan and fighting in front of all the fans, it's an experience," McKee said after his win. "It's an honor to be here and an honor to put on a great show. I'm a warrior, and I've returned from battle. What better way to represent this culture. I would've gone out like a warrior. If he had caught me in a triangle, I would've gone to sleep. That's just the kind of warrior I am."

Current Bellator featherweight champion Patricio Pitbull also secured a unanimous decision victory by dominating Kleber Koike, who holds the Rizin featherweight championship. Pitbull did not allow Koike an avenue to find success in the fight as he dictated every part of the action in the ring.

The real highlights of the night, however, came from the walkouts as each fighter took on their own interpretation of the warrior. Archuleta called back to his heritage with his Aztec warrior headdress and weanopry.

"I am 'The Spaniard'; my fight name is 'The Spaniard.' My father's side comes from Spain, but on my mom's side, my family comes from Mexico, from Native Meso-Americans. [My walkout costume paid tribute to] those warriors that represent what the emperor selected; real, true warriors hand-selected by the emperor," Archuleta said. "Here in RIZIN, I was able to represent the other side of my culture. It's not only the samurai, it means something to me: the jaguar warrior. I wanted to bring that to your eyes, to show you that there are other warriors. Just like the bushido code in Japan. That was honor, and that was real respect. To pay homage to that was to pay tribute to my Aztec family, and that was the 'jaguar warrior.'"

As the sun broke through the clouds, illuminating Tokyo Bay, over 1,200 American Naval, Army, and Marine Corps fighter planes and bombers roared overhead, flying in magnificent formation over the USS Missouri. It was yet another demonstration of the military might that had led the Allies to victory in the Second World War.

In recent years, however, there have been persistent attempts to rewrite that period of history for various purposes: some seek to cast the aggressor as victim, while others attempt to arrogate the accomplishments of others by exaggerating their own role in and contribution to the war effort. But falsehoods remain falsehoods, and facts speak louder than words: in the end, it was the United States that was the true mainstay in the fight against Japan in World War II.

Germany also used military force to insert itself into east Asian affairs. Capitalizing on the murder of two German missionaries, the country attacked and invaded the city of Qingdao in 1897, establishing what amounted to a German colony in Shandong province. The prospect of expelling Germany from the region and taking control themselves was enough to entice Japan to join the fight against Germany, making the Great War a global one in 1914.

The Japanese army, for its part, was originally concerned with fighting the Soviet Union, because of the army's preoccupation with Manchuria and China. The Japanese army governed Manchuria indirectly through the "puppet" state of Manchukuo and developed heavy industry there under its favorite agencies, disliking and distrusting the zaibatsu (large Japanese corporations). But the Soviet army's resistance to Japanese attacks was sufficient to discourage northern expansion.

Why did Japan attack the United States? This is a more complicated question. Japan knew the United States was economically and military powerful, but it was not afraid of any American attack on its islands. Japan did worry however, that the Americans might help the Chinese resist the Japanese invasion of their country. When President Roosevelt stopped U.S. shipments of steel and oil the Japan, he was doing exactly this: the Japanese are dependent on other countries for raw materials, for they have almost none on their own islands. Without imports of steel and oil, the Japanese military could not fight for long. Without oil, the navy would not be able to move after it had exhausted its six-month reserve. Roosevelt hoped that this economic pressure would force Japan to end its military expansion in East Asia.

As a professional, he boxed for 21 years and won 15 major world champions, which earned him medals, golden gloves, and a place in the boxing hall of fame. Now, Mayweather is planning his return to Japan for his next exhibition fight against Mikuru Asakura planned for September 2022 .

However, setting up this fight was not as smooth and as quick as the actually result might have suggested. After his successful campaign against Conor McGregor in 2017 he started negotiating with Rizin FF for a possible exhibition fight already back in mid-2018. Cultural misunderstandings and personality clashes contributed to a few set-backs that saw the exhibition fight almost canceled completely. In the end, the fight did happen, with Mayweather underlining his money making prowess in the process.

The results of these grand plans, a public announcement to collaborate with talent agency LIBERA, to establish TMT (The Money Team) Tokyo, and the next exhibition fight against a Japanese mixed martial arts fighter Mikuru.

Since 2017, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has not put on the gloves in an official fight. However, it is clear to remember that "Money" is considered the best pound-for-pound that has ever boxed at super featherweight, lightweight, super lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight.

After his last fight, Mayweather has had several exhibition bouts, among them with Tenshin Nasukawa, whom he defeated by KO and a draw against Logan Paul, where the American boxer was outclassed.

As a professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter, Mikuru Asakura has a record of 16 wins and three losses. Even, Asakura himself is excited for the opportunity to show himself against Money Mayweather.

The fight was widely seen as a farce but the American vowed to give the crowd this weekend at Saitama Super Arena, just north of Tokyo, their money's worth in his latest lucrative post-retirement performance. 041b061a72
